"Before Queer Britain opened in King's Cross in 2022, there was no UK museum dedicated to LGBTQ+ history. In the three years since, it's become an inclusive and accessible space where the stories of queer people have been reclaimed, preserved and celebrated, which is why co-founder Joseph Galliano-Doig is one of our Heroes. The museum is now relaunching this February with all-new displays across its galleries, highlighting queer life, love, protest and artistry."
"Over 200 objects will be on show in displays based around six themes: Resist! - centred around efforts to organise against oppression and the story of The Black Lesbian and Gay Centre Club Kids - a celebration of alternative communities and a showcase of Club Kali Queer Creativity - focusing on art and the Women's Liberation music-making movement of the 70s and 80s"
"As well as the collections, the museum will be hosting two special exhibitions for the relaunch - Queer Print, which explores how LGBTQ+ people organised through radical and alternative print cultures, and BFI Flare: London LGBTQ+ Film Festival, which celebrates 40 years of the film festival. Over the rest of the year, expect exhibitions on queer media representation and Mariano Vivanco's photographs of trans individuals."
Queer Britain opened in King's Cross in 2022 as the UK's first museum dedicated to LGBTQ+ history. The museum relaunches on 4 February 2026 with all-new displays across its galleries featuring over 200 objects organized around six themes: Resist!, Club Kids, Queer Creativity, Body and Mind, Live, Laugh, Live, and The World Around Us. Thematic displays cover protest and organising, alternative communities, artistic movements, health and disability, domestic life, and broader societal contexts. Two special exhibitions—Queer Print and BFI Flare—open for the relaunch, with additional exhibitions on queer media representation and Mariano Vivanco's photographs of trans individuals planned later in the year. The museum is located at 2 Granary Square, London N1C 4BH.
