His father Kevin Fray, who placed the 911 call, disputed the NYPD's version of events and called on the Attorney General to launch an investigation into the fatal shooting of his son, but such a probe was mandated."
Chez Fray was fatally shot by NYPD officers in Far Rockaway on Dec. 21 and was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Officers from the 101st Precinct responded to a 911 report of a domestic dispute at 1170 Nameoke St. at approximately 12:35 a.m. Officers encountered Fray in a fourth-floor hallway holding a boxcutter; two female officers ordered him to drop it and he allegedly advanced toward them. One officer deployed a stun gun and another discharged her service weapon, striking Fray in the chest. His father, Kevin Fray, disputed the NYPD account and requested a probe. Pursuant to Executive Law 70-b, the OSI assesses incidents where an officer may have caused a death and proceeds to a full investigation if indicated.
