Zvi Levran, a doctor known for working with youth hockey teams, was sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in prison for sexual assault and other crimes involving both adults and teenagers. The victims recounted disturbing incidents where Levran groped them during physicals or treatment sessions. His actions have drawn parallels to notorious cases, like that of Larry Nassar, highlighting systemic issues in medical environments involving young athletes. Levran, 68, pleaded no contest to 28 counts of sexual misconduct. He will be eligible for parole after serving a decade, with some victims finding a sense of empowerment from their shared experiences.
As I stand here in front of you, and I see the individual victims who were affected either directly or indirectly from my actions, it is very difficult to try and say anything for myself, and I'm not going to.
The courage of the victims who came forward against Levran helped prevent this predator from abusing future victims.
It haunts me, but I just know now he has no power over me.
Levran's actions drew comparisons to another Michigan sports doctor, Larry Nassar, who is in prison for assaulting teens and young women.
