Where do the Your Party leaders stand on LGBTQ rights amid growing rift?
"new kind of political party... one that is rooted in our communities, trade unions and social movements, one that builds power in all regions and nations. One that belongs to you"
"not biologically women"
"sexist boys' club"
Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn launched a new left-wing political group in July that currently uses the informal name Your Party. The group comprises six independent MPs including Ayoub Khan, Adnan Hussain, Iqbal Mohamed and Shockat Adam. The party attracted large interest, with more than 800,000 people signing up to its mailing list by the end of August. Internal tensions have emerged over leadership and unclear positions on trans rights. Members of the LGBTQ+ community have criticised the party for not publicly stating trans policies. Comments by founder-member Adnan Hussain and a public dispute between Sultana and Corbyn over unauthorised emails have deepened the rift.
