Luis Díaz did not play in Liverpool's 4-2 loss to AC Milan due to transfer speculation around his potential departure. Díaz is keen to leave the club and is awaiting an improved offer from Bayern Munich, following a rejected bid of €67.5 million. Despite being on the preseason tour squad, he was held back from participating in the game. Manager Arne Slot confirmed that Díaz is training well but stated their decision not to play him is unrelated to fitness concerns. Earlier, an offer from Barcelona was also rejected by Liverpool.
"There's a lot of rumours around him lately and I cannot go into that. He's training really well with us but we've decided for now not to play him yet."
"I'm used to talking to most of my players on a regular basis. Like I said, Lucho is training really well and we've decided that he's not playing at the moment in the games. I cannot comment much more about that."
