The five-day horse show is attracting more than 110,000 visitors from various places. Princess Anne attended the event after meeting with President Michael D Higgins. Attendees dressed in casual or stylish attire created a lively atmosphere. For some, like Benjamin Moss and Rose Grimes, it served as an unconventional second date. While Freya Dempsey missed qualifying this year, she still deemed the show important for family traditions and learning opportunities. The event marks its 150th staging with an exhibition in the RDS Concert Hall.
The five-day show is expected to attract more than 110,000 visitors from home and abroad. Britain's Princess Anne made an appearance yesterday following a visit to President Michael D Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin.
The 150th staging of the horse show is being marked by an exhibition that features historical photos and details from past events. The display is in the RDS Concert Hall and runs until Sunday.
Freya Dempsey, who missed out on qualifying for this year's show, described the event as a "family affair" that she could not miss. "I started horse riding when I was three or four," she said.
Rose, from Westmeath, has been attending the horse show since she was small and thought it was a fitting occasion for their second date. "I've been coming here since I was three or four. It's just a nice atmosphere and I meet lots of my friends and people I know," she said.
