Dan Biddle, the most injured survivor of the 7/7 bombings in London, continues to endure a challenging life 20 years later. After suffering grave injuries, including losing both legs and an eye, he has battled complex PTSD and other mental health issues. Ahead of the 20th anniversary of the attacks that killed 52, he calls for justice through a public inquiry. Biddle recalls his harrowing experience on that day and expresses disbelief that the tragedy has not received an official inquiry, reflecting on the ongoing impact of trauma.
Every night, Mr Biddle returns to the scene when he closes his eyes. I have been exhausted for 20 years because I dread going to sleep, he says. The minute I go to sleep, I'm on the floor in the tunnel.
Some 52 people lost their lives, why doesn't that warrant one? he asked in an interview with the Sunday Mirror. I knew that getting blown up, life was going to be tough, but I didn't think it would be unjust.
