The London Assembly's police and crime committee has called upon Mayor Sadiq Khan to foster positive male role models to counter rising misogyny online. This initiative follows concerns raised by a Netflix drama showcasing a boy's radicalization by such influences. The committee's report recommends a public campaign against anti-women content and suggests a 'Parent Toolkit' to help parents understand and discuss their children's online activities. This effort aims to educate youth on healthy relationships and counteract toxic online messages.
"We must do all we can to counter the pernicious influence of those who preach misogyny online," said a spokesperson for the mayor, reflecting a commitment to change.
Susan Hall AM emphasized the need for positive male role models and comprehensive parent support to combat online misogyny and educate children on healthy relationships.
