Esther Dwemoh, a single mother, has faced a severe infestation of mice in her Croydon Council property just months after moving in. Despite repeated complaints about the issue, the council has failed to provide a permanent solution. Esther described the unsettling sight of mice in her kitchen, and she took matters into her own hands by purchasing poison and traps. The infestation has significantly affected her wellbeing and her son’s mental health, illustrating the distress caused by the unresolved pest problem and the council's negligence in addressing it.
I just noticed a lot of movement in the kitchen. I would be sitting, eating with my son, and I would just see something scurry past my flooring.
So the council knew about this infestation but allowed us to move in without doing the proper work, she said.
I am more afraid to go into my kitchen. I don't feel comfortable sitting in my kitchen alone, because sometimes they come out and don't even care who's around.
He's always with me and he notices my change in behaviour, she said. He knows something is going on with Mummy.
