"Instead of going on social media, instead of the old tired cliches, telling trades unionists to get round the table, you're the mayor of London, you're the chair of Transport for London,"
"Stop going on social media, invite us to the meeting, let's have a discussion, because I want to know what is going on in London."
"takes no pleasure in causing disruption"
"makes no apology for fighting for our members"
Tube services remained suspended on the fifth day of an RMT strike that has severely disrupted London Underground operations and commuter travel. RMT members rejected a 3.4% pay offer and are campaigning for a reduction of the 35-hour working week that Transport for London described as unaffordable. RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey called on Mayor Sadiq Khan to meet the union and demanded direct talks rather than social media statements. The mayor's office said Sadiq has ensured TfL is ready to restart talks. Dempsey warned of further strike action if no resolution is reached. E-bike trips surged, with Lime reporting over a 50% rise during rush hour.
