A 31-year-old Ukrainian man was fatally attacked in Cork city centre on Monday evening after leaving his apartment to purchase food. He managed to stagger approximately 100 metres back to his residence at Camden Court off Carroll's Quay before dying. The assault occurred in the Lower John Street-Knapps Square-Devonshire Street area after 7pm. Emergency services responded around 7:50pm, and the man was declared deceased at his domestic residence. His remains were transferred to Cork University Hospital for post-mortem examination. GardaĆ­ are investigating whether the incident was a robbery or deliberate targeting, with a murder investigation expected to follow the pathologist's findings.
