Ukrainian man (31) on way to buy food for his family stabbed to death in Cork city

"A man, in his 30s, was subsequently declared deceased at a domestic residence on Carroll's Quay. His remains have been removed to Cork University Hospital (CUH). The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course."

A 31-year-old Ukrainian man was fatally attacked in Cork city centre on Monday evening after leaving his apartment to purchase food. He managed to stagger approximately 100 metres back to his residence at Camden Court off Carroll's Quay before dying. The assault occurred in the Lower John Street-Knapps Square-Devonshire Street area after 7pm. Emergency services responded around 7:50pm, and the man was declared deceased at his domestic residence. His remains were transferred to Cork University Hospital for post-mortem examination. Gardaí are investigating whether the incident was a robbery or deliberate targeting, with a murder investigation expected to follow the pathologist's findings.
