A car accident took place at Bellews Bridge Road, Castletown shortly after 1:45pm. A woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene, being the sole occupant of her vehicle. Her body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for a post mortem. Another woman in her 30s, the driver of the second car, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is also being treated at the same hospital. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting a technical examination of the scene, which remains closed.
