Barnet Council has announced plans to install 1,000 on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging points by 2027, in partnership with char.gy. This initiative will increase the total number of charging points in Barnet to 2,500, contributing to the borough's climate goals of achieving Net Zero status by 2042. The first 500 points will be operational within three months, while the remaining half will be launched over the next three years. Funding from the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles will cover a significant part of the costs, thus promoting sustainable transport options.
"It's another step in the right direction as we move towards becoming a Net Zero borough by 2042."
"Barnet is showing real leadership with this rollout, making it easier for people to make the switch to electric by ensuring charging is available right outside their homes."
