Qantas is pulling the plug on Jetstar Asia - and 500 jobs
Briefly

Qantas is shutting down its Singapore-based budget airline, Jetstar Asia, at the end of July, citing rising operating costs, high airport fees, and competitive pressures in Southeast Asia. The airline will continue operating on a progressively reduced schedule until then. The closure, which results in over 500 job losses, comes after two decades of service. Qantas will offer full refunds to passengers whose flights are canceled, and will assist employees in finding new roles within the company or with other airlines.
Despite delivering exceptional customer service and operational reliability, Jetstar Asia has been impacted by rising supplier costs, high airport fees, and intensified competition in the region.
The departure is a great loss from the viewpoint of price and service competition for travellers.
