President Trump will sign an executive order establishing a task force to manage the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, aimed at overseeing security and other concerns. Trump will lead the task force, which includes cabinet members. This task force, traditionally managed at a local level, is supported by funding from Trump's recent legislation allocating $1 billion for Olympic-related expenses. Negotiations are ongoing with LA28 regarding police and traffic support during the Games. Questions remain about potential opposition from local leaders.
"The creation of this task force marks an important step forward in our planning efforts and reflects our shared commitment to delivering not just the biggest, but the greatest Games the world has ever seen in the summer of 2028," said Casey Wasserman, the Chairperson and President of LA28.
Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act,' signed into law last month, secured $1 billion for security, planning and other costs related to the Olympics.
