Allen worked out for the team Aug. 1, and he will reunite with quarterback Justin Herbert, entering a much different receiving room than when he was last with the Chargers.
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman will be tasked with making Allen and rookie Ladd McConkey mesh in the passing offense, as both players frequently play in the slot.
Allen set the Chargers' single-season record for receptions last year with 108, remaining the most reliable weapon in a receiving corps that was inconsistent.
