Astros Re-Sign Jon Singleton To Minor League Deal
Briefly

Jon Singleton has rejoined the Astros on a new minor league deal after being designated for assignment. Previously, he was on the Astros' 40-man roster but was released after spring training. He played for the Mets' Triple-A team before returning to the Astros, where he had a brief stint in the majors this past month. Singleton has a track record of power hitting in the minors but is considered a below-average defender and struggles against left-handed pitching. His addition provides the Astros with a needed left-handed bat.
Singleton, 33, had a combined 306 Triple-A plate appearances this year, slashing .224/.373/.451 with 16 home runs, an 18.4% walk rate, and a 26.5% strikeout rate.
The Astros are light on left-handed bats with Yordan Alvarez out for most of the season, making Singleton a valuable lefty-swinging option for their depth.
