"Anthony Santander is doing everything in his power to get back to the big leagues in 2025. The biggest free agent signing for the Blue Jays this past offseason hasn't lived up to his contract at all, battling slow performance and injuries throughout the year, but he could inject Toronto with a huge upgrade in the lineup once the playoffs start."
"It garnered a lot of attention on social media as it was recorded as the slowest home run trot of all time in Triple-A baseball. No one has managed to get a reason from Santander as to why he took his sweet time. Some speculated that he may have hurt his lower half, but there's been no indication to shed light on that theory."
Anthony Santander has been on the injured list since May 29 with a shoulder injury and has not played at the MLB level since then. He began a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on September 11 and has appeared in eight games, recording five hits and two home runs. One home run registered a 111.5-mph exit velocity and traveled 3850 feet, followed by a 41-second home run trot that attracted social media attention as the slowest ever recorded in Triple-A. Santander has played some outfield in Buffalo and is likely to return to Toronto as a designated hitter for the playoffs.
