"With their final pick in the 2024 draft, the Atlanta Braves selected high school infielder/outfielder Eric Hartman with their 20th overall pick out of Holy Trinity Academy, in Otokoks, Alberta. It makes sense, given general manager Alex Anthopoulos' ties to the great country. Hometown: St. Albert, Alberta Organization: Atlanta Braves Draft: 20th round, 2024 (ATL) Position: Second base/outfield"
"Long, muscular body. Hartman has great bat speed and can connect with the ball anywhere in the zone. Currently a line drive hitter, Hartman is projectable which may see him hit his fair share of home runs as he matures. An average runner with a strong arm will allow him to move all over the field defensively. It may have worked out for the National League East team."
Eric Hartman, from St. Albert, Alberta, was selected 20th overall by the Atlanta Braves in the 2024 draft out of Holy Trinity Academy in Otokoks. Scouting notes project Hartman as a long, muscular hitter with great bat speed, a line-drive approach, growing power, average speed, and a strong arm that enables defensive versatility. The Braves signed him over slot, using leftover bonus money to gamble on a prep hitter who was not a top-ranked prospect. Hartman began his pro career in 2025, was placed aggressively in Single-A, and spent most of the season with the Augusta GreenJackets. Across over 370 plate appearances he hit .248/.344/.374 with five homers, a 10% walk rate, a 23% strikeout rate, and a 113 wRC+. He logged 149.1 innings at second base and 512 outfield innings between left and center.
