Brewers' Woodruff to IL, putting playoffs in doubt
"This is a side effect of getting back into doing this at a high level, and that's it. Is this career-ending? No, it's nothing like that,"
"It's nothing even compared to the surgery, but it's just one of those things that it'll heal, it'll get better. It's just [bad] timing."
"Everybody that's pitched well is a factor, you know what I mean?"
"How we line it up and how we end up going with it won't be too, too much of a surprise to anybody."
Brandon Woodruff experienced a triceps sensation during a bullpen session, and an initial evaluation identified a right lat strain in his upper back. The injury prompted a retroactive move to the 15-day injured list, raising questions about his availability for the playoffs. Left-hander José Quintana also went on the 15-day injured list with a left calf strain, increasing rotation uncertainty beyond Freddy Peralta and Quinn Priester. Rookie Jacob Misiorowski has struggled since returning, prompting consideration of a relief role. Robert Gasser was recalled to start, and Trevor Megill could return if bullpen sessions go well.
