"After the right-hander was designated for assignment earlier this month and subsequently released, it took a little over a week for him to come back to the organization. Across his time in Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, Sauer carries a 5.86 ERA over 18 outings, 17 of which were starts. In this time, he has punched out 79 batters to 28 walks through 80 innings of work."
"Sauer cracked the Opening Day roster and made his first appearance in Dodger blue during an exhibition game during the Tokyo Series to start the season. He had an ERA of 1.54 during his first four appearances, earning a win and a save during those inital 11.2 innings. Things would unfortunately take a tumble for Sauer after that, as he allowed 19 earned runs in his final 18 innings on the mound."
Right-hander Matt Sauer signed a minor-league deal with the Dodgers amid Los Angeles' bullpen struggles. Sauer made 10 major-league appearances for the Dodgers this season, recording a 6.37 ERA across 29.2 innings. In Triple-A Oklahoma City he posted a 5.86 ERA over 18 outings (17 starts) with 79 strikeouts and 28 walks in 80 innings. Sauer began the season with a 1.54 ERA through his first four appearances, earning a win and a save, but allowed 19 earned runs in his final 18 innings. Sauer was a 2017 second-round Yankees pick and had prior stints with the Royals and Yankees before joining the Dodgers in January.
