MLB News: Brees to Buy Padres?, Scherzer Back to Jays, Braves Revenue Soars
"Joe Kudla, the owner and CEO of Carlsbad, Calif.-based Vuori, has partnered with Drew Brees, who began his decorated NFL career with the San Diego Chargers, in pursuit of the Padres, according to industry sources who were granted anonymity to speak freely about the franchise's sale process."
"The Atlanta Braves grew their baseball-side revenues 7 percent, to $635 million, the team said Wednesday. Meanwhile, the club's real-estate business surrounding its home stadium fared even better: a 45 percent jump to $97 million in 2025. Revenues were up 11 percent overall for the year, to $732.5 million."
The San Diego Padres sale process continues with five bids submitted, including one from Drew Brees, the NFL Hall of Famer who began his career with the Chargers, partnered with Joe Kudla, CEO of performance apparel company Vuori. Other bidders include Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob and English Premier League club owner José E. Feliciano. Max Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, signed a one-year, $3 million contract to return to the Toronto Blue Jays for his 19th season at age 41. The Atlanta Braves, despite finishing fourth in the National League East, reported strong financial performance with baseball-side revenues growing 7 percent to $635 million and real-estate revenues jumping 45 percent to $97 million, resulting in overall revenue growth of 11 percent to $732.5 million.
