Kevin McGonigle, a rookie shortstop for the Detroit Tigers, signed an eight-year contract extension worth $150 million. The deal, which begins in 2027, could reach $160 million with escalators. At 21, McGonigle is the youngest Tigers player on an Opening Day roster since 2003 and has made a strong impact, becoming the third-youngest player with four or more hits on Opening Day in the last century. He is currently batting .311 with one home run and eight RBIs.
