No player won back possession more times than Hasegawa (174) in the WSL in 2024-25, with 21 of those recoveries made in the final third."
""I'm so excited because we can win the title this season. Because we have great players and a good football style, so I hope this season will be good. "I really want to win the title at this club, and there are players I want to play with. This is one of the biggest reasons [why I wanted] to stay here.""
Yui Hasegawa signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City, keeping her at the club until 2029. She joined City in 2022 from West Ham and her prior contract was due to expire in 2027. Hasegawa played every Women's Super League match last season and logged 1,939 minutes, with only six players recording more. She led the WSL with 174 recoveries in 2024-25, 21 of which were in the final third. Hasegawa has been named in the PFA Team of the Year for each of the last three seasons. City announced the deal on deadline day amid further transfer activity.
