Pep Guardiola missed media duties before Manchester City's Premier League trip to Tottenham because of a personal matter. Assistant coach Pep Lijnders replaced Guardiola at the scheduled news conference. Guardiola had attended a charity concert in Barcelona wearing a black and white keffiyeh and expressed support for Palestinian children, saying they had been left alone and abandoned. City players were given a day off on Friday, and Guardiola is due to lead training on Saturday before travelling to London. This is the third time this season Guardiola has missed pre- or post-match duties, with previous absences covered by Kolo Touré and Lijnders and one touchline ban. Guardiola previously described the war in Gaza as painful and was fined in 2018 for wearing a yellow ribbon in support of imprisoned Catalan politicians.
