Almost 2 million 23andMe users have asked the company to delete their data in the last 2 months
Briefly

23andMe is grappling with a steep decline in customer confidence, as 1.9 million out of 14 million users have requested data deletions since the company's bankruptcy announcement. Interim CEO Joseph Selsavage revealed these issues during a House Oversight Committee hearing, citing the requests as nearly 15% of its user base. The company has faced numerous challenges, including significant legal issues, layoffs, and the departure of its entire board. An impending acquisition by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals has also sparked legal challenges from state authorities concerned about data protection.
"Since we announced bankruptcy, we've had 1.9 million customers call and request that we delete their data, and we have done so within a reasonable timeframe," Selsavage said.
"We have experienced and expect to continue to experience significant declines in PGS revenues in the near-term as a result of the Chapter 11 Cases, and other factors."
