Brooklyn student's notes spark citywide "ripples of kindness" effect. Meet the mysterious author behind them.
"Just a daily reminder that you are amazing and the world is a better place with you in it. Xoxo Charlie."
"I had to leave it for as many people to find as possible,"
"I've never met this Charlie, but I think that Charlie's right. I think that one good deed does ripple out and it can inspire other people to do the same."
"It was so, so well received...little does anyone really know what anyone's really, really going through."
Handwritten affirmation notes labeled "Xoxo Charlie" appeared in busy New York public spaces and surprised several finders. One note told readers they are amazing and that the world is better with them in it. A passerby left the note for others to discover, believing one good deed can ripple outward and inspire others. A holistic health coach received a note during a difficult period and found it deeply meaningful. The notes were placed by 12-year-old Charlie Simon, who taped affirmation cards at landmarks, parks, transit hubs and other high-traffic locations to spread kindness after a school project assignment.
