Larry Borom, a reserve offensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins, returns to Chicago for the preseason after previously playing for the Bears. Although he is from Detroit, Borom expresses a preference for Detroit-style pizza over Chicago's deep-dish pizza. He is focusing on improving his football skills with the Dolphins, particularly by practicing with the first team in place of the injured Austin Jackson. Coach Mike McDaniel recognizes Borom's potential for development based on his technique and fundamentals learned from previous experiences with the Bears.
"I'm bigger on Detroit-style pizza," Borom said. "The Chicago style with the fork and knife, you can keep that. ... You can't even pick it up."
"They're everything," Borom said of receiving first-team practice reps. "Getting used to where the quarterback's going to be, his cadence, just getting continuity with everybody is everything."
"It's been extremely valuable because I think Larry and the Dolphins both saw elements of his game that could really, really grow based upon his technique and fundamentals," McDaniel explained.
