Professor H. Scott Fingerhut of FIU College of Law has been banned from campus following credible allegations of sexual misconduct, which include showing inappropriate materials to students. This decision was made after the FIU Office of Civil Rights Compliance and Accessibility received multiple reports regarding his behavior, leading to concerns about the emotional well-being and safety of students. He has been placed on administrative leave indefinitely, with other faculty covering his classes, while the university investigates the matter.
The letter said FIU's Office of Civil Rights Compliance and Accessibility has received multiple reports with credible concerns of ongoing inappropriate sexual misconduct, including but not limited to showing students animal genitalia.
During an initial review by the civil rights agency, the letter said, complainants expressed emotional distress, anxiety and fear of retaliation.
