"It hit me like: No, this is real I actually don't have any power to climb right now. I started looking at the ground immediately to find a spot to land and once you're in that position you just execute."
"It was less than two minutes from the time I realized there was a problem to landing on the ground. No one was hurt which Bray attributed to a man in a truck who slowed people down as he made the emergency landing."
"If you are watching this, sir, I want to thank you for what you did."
Niko Bray, a 19-year-old pilot who obtained his license in January 2025, experienced engine failure while flying a Cessna 150G above Jupiter, Florida on March 6. With no power to climb, he quickly assessed the situation and decided to land on Indiantown Road, a six-lane thoroughfare. He successfully placed the aircraft near a Home Depot store within two minutes of detecting the problem. No injuries occurred, partly due to a truck driver who slowed traffic during the landing. Bray credited his ability to remain calm and execute the necessary actions during the life-or-death emergency.
