A $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold in New York City at Diamond News Inc. for the Aug. 6 drawing. Powerball drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. It is currently unclear if the winner resides in New York City. Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prizes. Additionally, a second-place ticket offering $1,000 a week for life was sold in the Bronx, guaranteeing a minimum payout of $1 million. A separate $1 million ticket was also sold in New Jersey for Wednesday's drawing.
A $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold in New York City, the New York Lottery announced on Thursday. The winning ticket for the Aug. 6 drawing was sold at Diamond News Inc. at 631 Second Avenue.
Powerball drawings are televised every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday around 11 p.m. It is unknown at this time if the winner is a New York City resident.
The New York Lottery confirmed that a second place $1,000 A Week For Life ticket was sold at a deli in the Bronx.
The ticket gives the winner $1,000 a week for life, with a guaranteed minimum payout of $1 million.
