"Once again, I urge the United States to seek respectful dialogue through the correct diplomatic and political channels and utilizing pre-existing forums that are based on agreements already in place with the United States. The dialogue must take place with respect to the fact that Greenland's status is rooted in international law and the principle of territorial integrity."
"a clear signal that territorial integrity, sovereignty and international rules of play continue to apply and are respected."
Greenland's prime minister reiterated that Greenland is not for sale and that only Greenlanders can decide the island's future. He welcomed solidarity from Denmark's NATO partners after US President Trump renewed interest in acquiring the territory. European leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain joined Denmark in pledging defense of Greenland's territorial integrity. The prime minister called for respectful diplomatic dialogue through existing channels and forums grounded in international law. Greenland's strategic importance stems from its location, untapped rare earth resources, emerging Arctic shipping routes as ice melts, and an existing US military base.
