"GardaĆ­ and emergency services were alerted to an incident involving two dogs that occurred at a residential property in Callan in Co Kilkenny at approximately 3pm this afternoon, Wednesday, January 28. An infant boy sustained serious injuries following this incident and is currently receiving treatment at Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time."
"The scene of the incident is currently preserved pending a technical examination. The dogs have been removed by the dog warden and arrangements are being made with the local veterinary services for the animals to be euthanised. It is not known at this stage what breed the dogs are. A garda spokesperson said their investigations into the incident are currently ongoing and added that no further information is available at this time."

In Carlow earlier this month, a woman thought her family dog was going to die after her pet was brutally attacked by another dog while out for a walk. "We were walking towards the Athy Road roundabout when we noticed two dogs off leads and their owners were nowhere to be seen," Kotrina Cioladis told the Irish Independent."
