Oregon state employees will receive 6.5% cost-of-living raises over two years as a result of tentative agreements reached by the state and its two largest unions, SEIU and AFSCME. Additionally, longtime workers will benefit from a new salary classification. Contract approval is pending a vote by union members. The agreements also ensure higher pay for hazardous work and promote increased remote work opportunities, addressing employee needs amid rising living costs and inflation.
"This contract will help to close that gap, but it's still imperative Oregon continues to invest in our state workforce to ensure service needs around the state can be met and to ensure that state workers are able to provide for themselves and their families," Milana Grant, spokesperson for AFSCME, said in an email.
Under the agreement, union members will receive pay increases of 2.5% next February and 4% in early 2027.
