"It was hard to take a harm reduction approach when management told me to look the other way and not 'gossip' about what I knew was happening. This harmed not only the staff that wanted to speak up and have a better working environment, but also enabled the clients and their addiction."
Yasmin Wright, a 46-year-old caseworker at a LifeMoves-operated temporary housing site in San Jose, was arrested for possessing approximately 3.4 ounces of suspected methamphetamine individually wrapped for sale. She faces two felony counts for drug possession with intent to sell and transporting drugs, plus a misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia possession. The arrest follows an investigation revealing that current and former workers had repeatedly reported suspicious behavior to management, including Wright handing items to residents and leaving the site multiple times daily. Workers who raised these concerns were terminated, including a case manager fired for recording what appeared to be a drug transaction. Management dismissed staff reports as unfounded and instructed employees not to discuss their observations.
