"I know I make a lot of mistakes in the first fight with Volk. I tried to only finish him (with) one big hit, you know, one big punch. After the second round I dropped him I feel like okay I have the power for finishing him,"
"I only looked for this. I forget many things in my game plan. I fixed this in training camp so now it's completely different."
"I only want to take the belt. This is my goal,"
"Every place that Volk fights the people supporting him. He's not only for Australia. I know people in the crowds (are) supporting him, but I (don't) care about this."
Diego Lopes acknowledges making many mistakes in the first fight with Alexander Volkanovski and attempted to finish the fight with one big punch. He dropped Volkanovski in the second round and felt he had the power to finish. Lopes corrected the issues in training camp and changed his game plan. The rematch focus is solely on capturing the UFC featherweight title rather than seeking revenge. Lopes has spent 11 years away from home and says competing in hostile territory and crowds supporting Volkanovski do not affect him.
