GLORY 100: Sergej Maslobojev Admits Losing Title Off Cut Ate At Him
Briefly

Sergej Maslobojev, who won the GLORY light heavyweight championship in 2022, faced a painful setback after losing the title due to a doctor's stoppage from a cut on his shin. This loss profoundly affected him, leading to a temporary departure from the promotion. After returning, he realized that being overly fixated on the title affected his enjoyment of the sport. Maslobojev has since embraced a more balanced approach, focusing on the process of kickboxing and providing entertaining performances rather than solely chasing championships.
"It ate me a lot. At that moment, I couldn't recognize myself actually. I felt like my baby was taken from me," Maslobojev reflected on losing the championship after just one defense.
"Actually I was really rude to everyone and told everyone from the organization that I was hating my life and everything that was happening around me at the moment," Maslobojev described his emotional state after the loss.
"After my last fight in GLORY I said that I stopped running after the title. Before, I was sick about the title. But now I just want to enjoy the process," he expressed a change in mindset.
"The title is a big bonus. Of course it puts some weight on my shoulders as well, but the main thing is just to enjoy my road and give a beautiful show." Maslobojev illustrates his new approach to competition.
