Noche UFC's Diego Lopes on Jean Silva: "Talk Less, Train More"
"Maybe train more. Talk less, train more,"
"It's like, I'm surprised he did it too. I feel the punch the back of my head. I turned around, like he elbowed me in the back of my head?"
"Before I enter the octagon, the cutman put the Vaseline in my face. His partners, his corners were talking a lot, like 'oh you die today, this guy will kill you, you suck, this guy will knock you out.' Talking a lot of bad words."
Diego Lopes stopped Jean Silva with a spinning back elbow in the featherweight main event at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. Lopes absorbed a punch after the bell and faced taunting from Silva's corners before the fight. Lopes described surprise at the post-bell elbow to the back of his head and attributed the action to emotion following Silva's prior loss. After the victory Lopes scaled the octagon, made an obscene gesture toward Silva's corner, then apologized for the gesture. The win follows a title loss to Alexander Volkanovski and could put Lopes back into title contention or change UFC matchmaking plans.
