""A lot of people ask, 'What's your biggest accomplishment?' I always say I was able to be myself through the whole process, and I still am me," Volkanovski told the UFC. "I forget that I do this stuff sometimes, I'm with my fam, doing my thing, I walk the street, people saying, 'Hello, I think I just know you from school.' I will be like, 'Oh yeah.' I literally completely forget about [being a fighter]. I'm just me."
"I didn't have the hype, I didn't have the push from everybody. Even while I was a champion, it took a while for people to really get to know me and understand me and take a liking. But now I feel like there's so much love. The love is incredible now. And they are loyal... I feel like no matter what happens out there, I'll still get the love."
Alexander Volkanovski values remaining himself throughout his career above winning multiple UFC titles. He sometimes forgets he is a champion when recognized by people from his childhood. He credits a low-key approach and avoiding pomp for a slower rise but believes those sacrifices built loyal, unconditional fans. He describes the current fan affection as incredible and lasting regardless of results. He spends most of his time with family on his farm, cooking, cutting meat, and hunting. A fan once recognized him from his Instagram cooking channel. Volkanovski won the featherweight title for the first time in 2019.
