North Yorkshire sees 4G coverage boost through SRN | Computer Weekly

The UK government’s Shared Rural Network programme has activated upgraded masts in Yorkshire to enhance mobile connectivity in rural towns and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Announced in 2019, the £1.3bn programme aims to provide 95% of the UK with high-quality 4G coverage by 2025. Mobile network operators, including EE and VMO2, are investing £532m alongside over £500m from the government. Over 10,000 km² gained coverage through the initiative, improving connectivity for 280,000 premises.
The SRN programme is designed to wipe notspots from the map, providing high-quality 4G coverage to 95% of the UK by the end of 2025.
Operators committed to upgrading or building mobile infrastructure to eliminate partial notspots by 2024, while the second phase is due to be completed in 2027.
The UK's MNOs have committed to invest £532m, complemented by more than £500m from the government to improve 4G coverage.
Since the SRN began, more than 10,000 km² have gained mobile network coverage for the first time, benefiting approximately 280,000 premises.
