Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 details leak
"The first phones using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC have started to come out last month, following the chipset's official announcement, and yet if you have, for some reason, been wondering what to expect from its successor, today a few details have been outed. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is probably going to be unveiled in September 2026."
"It will allegedly be made on a 2nm process by TSMC, and this will enable some great gains in terms of power consumption and performance compared to its predecessor. The 8 Elite Gen 6 is said to support LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, and might be even more expensive than the 8 Elite Gen 5, which will inevitably make phones using it more expensive than the current batch of flagships that are just launching."
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is expected to be unveiled in September 2026. The chipset is reportedly to be manufactured on TSMC's 2nm process, promising significant gains in power consumption and performance compared to the Gen 5. Design support includes LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, offering faster memory bandwidth and storage throughput. Higher manufacturing complexity and newer components could push the chipset price above that of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Phones using the Gen 6 are therefore likely to carry higher retail prices than current flagship models. Real-world device implementation and pricing will determine if gains justify the cost.
