He spoke up for me when I was in prison': Anthrax, Lamb of God, Rick Wakeman and more share memories of Ozzy Osbourne
Briefly

Brann Dailor's affinity for music began with his mother's band covering 'War Pigs'. His discovery of Ozzy Osbourne's music, particularly 'Blizzard of Ozz', captivated him at age six. The combination of Randy Rhoads' guitar work and Ozzy's energetic performances left a lasting impact. Dailor admired Ozzy's unique vocal style, which influenced his work with Mastodon. Meeting Ozzy at Ozzfest in 2005 was a highlight, and performing at Black Sabbath's last concert held special significance for Dailor and his bandmates.
My introduction to Sabbath was my mom's band, who used to cover War Pigs a pretty faithful rendition! But Ozzy felt more like my discovery, in 1981 or so.
For a kid, he almost seemed like a cartoon character; the joy he was experiencing was infectious, but also the music was visceral.
I don’t think he got enough credit as a singer; to the layperson he was this madman, and to them, the magic lay there and not in his abilities.
I like big, heavy riffs with an almost evil-sounding, dark, high-pitched vocal tonality: that’s Ozzy to a T.
