Pearl Jam's Mike McCready Announces Graphic Novel and Rock Opera Album
"Developed over the last 20 years, McCready's story captures the drive and sense of community that forged the powerful backbone of the Seattle music scene of the 1980s, as their world changed forever with the explosion of grunge in the '90s. Farewell to Seasons unflinchingly shows the brutal cost it had for so many artists and musicians as it captures the lived experience of that seminal era."
"Farewell to Seasons is a historical fantasy set in that world, and alongside the graphic novel there will also be a 'lost' rock opera connected to the story, featuring original music written from the perspective of David Williams, one of the main characters."
Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and Z2 Comics have created Farewell to Seasons, a multimedia project combining a graphic novel and accompanying rock opera album. Developed over 20 years, the work presents an alternative history of Seattle's music scene, examining the 1980s community that preceded grunge's explosion in the 1990s. The narrative unflinchingly portrays both the glory and devastating costs experienced by artists during this transformative era. The rock opera features original music written from the perspective of David Williams, a main character in the graphic novel. Both the graphic novel and album release on October 6th, with pre-orders available through Z2 Comics' webstore.
