Mayor Adams makes surprise visit to JCC during 16th annual Nancy Avis L'Dor V'Dor Awards
Briefly

New York City Mayor Eric Adams surprised attendees by joining the 16th annual Nancy Avis L'Dor V'Dor Awards at the Joan & Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center. The event honored five women for their contributions to the JCC and Staten Island community. Awards included the First Generation Award and the Nancy Avis Legacy Award among others. The event also raised funds for the JCC's programs and highlighted the legacy of Nancy Avis and her husband, Dr. Ronald Avis, amid rising concerns regarding anti-Semitism.
"We're so proud to see the inspiring legacy of Nancy Avis live on in these five outstanding honorees. These women carry on a tradition of leadership from one generation to the next - L'Dor V'Dor," JCC CEO Orit Lender said.
"We were honored to have Mayor Adams join us to congratulate our five outstanding honorees and show support for the broader Jewish community," Lender added.
