Classic Pizza, a Staten Island establishment run by the Rocchio family for 36 years, closed its doors for the last time. Owner Brandon Rocchio, who took over from his parents, expressed deep emotional ties to the community, saying it felt like family. He hosted a 'Grand Closing' celebration to honor the connections formed over decades. Despite the sorrow of closing, Rocchio cited health issues as the primary reason for stepping away from the business, making the final day a bittersweet farewell to cherished memories and valued customers.
It's sad, you know? It's a bittersweet ending," said Brandon Rocchio, 39, who took over the pizzeria from his parents, Pat and Patricia.
Tonight, when I close the gate for the last time, it'll be tough," he said. "I'm trying to come to terms with it, but it's for health and health only.
