At Temple Hospital, transplant recipients Evelyn Bautista and Megan Bosack met for the first time, sharing a unique bond. Seventeen-year-old Bautista received Bosack’s kidney following her own struggles with congenital kidney failure and long-term dialysis. Bosack, a 21-year-old paralegal, became an altruistic donor upon realizing she could help someone with her healthy kidney. Both women expressed gratitude and hope, discovering mutual support and friendship as they began new chapters in their lives, embodied by the phrase 'Girls With One Kidney Have More Fun.'
"I just thought I have a perfectly healthy kidney, I could give someone else a completely new chance at life," said Bosack.
"She gave me the opportunity of life, it means a lot to me," said Bautista.
"They're able to have that miracle of donating and transforming someone's life," said Dr. Kenneth Chavin.
"I feel like we can get along really well," said Bosack.
