During a recent cabinet meeting, Secretary of Education Linda McMahon humorously remarked that she's working hard to get herself fired while achieving significant cuts and restructuring within the Department of Education (DOE). President Trump had previously hoped McMahon would effectively eliminate the DOE by enhancing its efficiency, leading to a reduction of its staff by approximately 50%. McMahon also announced the resumption of collecting delinquent student loans and expressed commitment to collaborating with Congress to streamline procedures for schools and students.
Well, Mr. President, I don't think I've ever worked so hard to try to fire myself. We are certainly making great strides in that.
In coming months, we will partner with Congress and other federal agencies to determine the best path forward to fulfill the expectations of the President and the American people.
We will eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy so that our colleges, K-12 schools, students, and teachers can innovate and thrive.
