City Renews Fair Housing Commitments, Focusing on Climate and Affordability
Briefly

New York City has set new fair housing goals under its "Where We Live 2025" plan to enhance neighborhood access for residents. The plan includes 16 commitments aimed at creating more equitable housing opportunities, such as encouraging residents from flood-prone areas to relocate voluntarily and legalizing housing with shared facilities. The City Council's Fair Housing Framework mandates a fair housing plan every five years, starting with the 2020 plan that had 81 commitments, half of which are completed. Officials emphasize that efforts are ongoing to achieve housing equity in the city.
