The Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, alongside 32BJ SEIU and the New York State Nurses Association, endorsed Mamdani for mayor after initially supporting Cuomo. Unions value Mamdani's focus on affordability and his commitment to labor. President Richard Maroko highlighted Mamdani's support for working people over corporations. Throughout the event, union chants and supportive signs emphasized their solidarity with Mamdani. He criticized the reconciliation bill and the Adams administration's collaboration with Trump, pledging to prioritize working-class interests and combat rising rents in the city.
Whenever there is a struggle, whenever there is a dispute between labor and management, he will be on our side. He will always be on the side of working people before corporations and the billionaires that own it.
I stand here alongside our ever expanding coalition, I am confident of not only winning a City Hall that puts working people first, but finally bringing an end to the chapter in our city led by our current mayor.
