A three-alarm fire erupted early on April 28 in Borough Park, New York, causing significant damage to Savon Shoes and two floors of apartments. The fire started around 2 a.m. and quickly escalated, prompting a response from 33 units and 138 firefighters who successfully extinguished the blaze by 3:55 a.m. Fortunately, all residents on the second and third floors were evacuated unharmed, though 15 adults and five children were displaced. The American Red Cross provided assistance to the affected families, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
We had fire in the rear of the store with an extension to the second floor. [There was] a lot of stock in the rear of the building and it didn't have any windows so we didn't have a lot of ventilation, so it was a tough fire from that perspective.
15 adults and five children were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross was on scene to help the families.
